"A multiplayer online shooter set in the Star Wars universe featuring soldier sets from the series (Stormtroopers, Rebel pilots, AT-AT commanders, Republic Guards) and a wide variety of vehicles out of the films. Players take part in epic battles from both the original series (Episodes IV, V, VI) as well as the prequel trilogy (Episode I, II, III.) The game liberally borrows concepts from EA's Battlefield series, transplanting the competitive action into the Star Wars galaxy. Players team up or go head-to-head to fight on ten legendary planets from the George Lucas franchise and use a variety of weapons and vehicles, including X-wings, snowspeeders and AT-STs."- ign.com
That is some of the basics of the game. The game is out for PS2, PC, and X-box. Like it said above, you play as characters from the movies, but also includes some from comics and from Cartoon Networks Star Wars Clone Wars mini series. No stupid Jedi losers fighting the universe on their own this time. You play as the unsung heroes that made the series role.
You play as either Rebels, Imperialist, Separatists, or Republicans. (aka= Rebel Alliance, Galactic Empire, Separatists, Grand Army of the Republic) You will also get to use vehicles from the series as well. The infamous X-wings and Tie Fighters plus various walkers, speeder, and other starfighters.
The game makes you chose between several character options after you select your Alliance. You can choose between Scouts, Pilots, Heavy troops, infantry, and specialty troops. Each with there own special powers, weapons, and potentials.
Scouts are armed with sniper rifles. They are light fast, and fairly well equipped. Some can call down Orbital Strikes. Orbital Strikes are the most powerful and destructive attacks you can do.
Pilots are next, Pilots are basically mechanics. They are poorly armed compared to most other classes, but the have MANY uses. They can build and repair defenses, and they can drop supplies. All classes can pilot vehicles, but only pilots can repair in flight, and eject in the air.
Heavy Troops are basic troops more or less, but they run slower, and have more armor. Plus they have really good explosives, and usually Missile launchers. They can take out large troop movements or vehicles. However, one on one combat is difficult.
Infantry are the backbone of all operations. They are fairly well to do and are good for beginners. The are the usual trooper you see in the films.
Specialty troops kick ass, that is the bulk of it. Some can bomb around with jetpacks, or transform, and the rebels troop has as special surprise. I'll tell you later.
I'll post the in depth coverage of the factions ASAP.
